At Grace & Vision Optometrist, we are excited to announce that we have recently acquired the Oculus Keratograph 5 (K5) which has revolutionised Dry Eye assessment. The K5 allows us to have an in-depth look at the eyelid anatomy and tear film to diagnose and manage dry eyes. It allows us to scan and measure critical features such as:

1. The quantity of tears,
2. The quality of lipids in tears,
3. Tear break-up time,
4. The integrity of the Meibomian (oil) Glands.

How will this benefit you?

The new technology offered by the K5 will allow our optometrists to diagnose your dry eye condition quickly and accurately so that we can find the right solution to treat you appropriately. It also acts as an accurate measure to track your dry eye improvements with treatment.

Dry eye treatment options

Following assessment with the K5, if you would like to benefit from dry eye treatments, we offer a range of dry eye treatments:

1. Intense Pulse Light (IPL) Therapy

IPL brings longer lasting relief to the eyes and remains the most effective treatment currently available for dry eyes. According to a study conducted in 2015, 86% of patients reported improvement after 3 treatments. Prevention is always easier than looking for a cure, so treat Meibomian Gland Dysfunction early before it permanently damages your glands!

2. Blephasteam

Soften and unblock healthy oils around the eyes.

3. Demodex

Control abnormal growth of eyelash mites

4. Punctual plug

Retain moisture in the eye

5. Lacrimal lavage
